Tokyo to Mt Fuji: Transportation Options and Tips
The Lake Kawaguchi area, located to the southwest of Tokyo, is the best place to view Mount Fuji. Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyu Railway Line serves as the transportation hub for the area.

You can purchase tickets for the Highway Express Bus or the Fuji Excursion Train on-site, but tickets often sell out quickly. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to book online at least 3 days in advance.

If you have a JR Pass, you can only ride the JR Chuo Line for free. The Fuji Excursion Train and the Fujikyuko Line do not accept the JR Pass, and there is no Shinkansen railway connecting Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchi.
